Hazard is the new Country Rock venture of veteran performers Chrissy Clarke (aka C.C. DeVine) vocals, rhythm guitar and banjo and ‘Powerchord’ Pete Clarke, bass, vocals, guitar and arrangements. Their joint pedigrees cover many, many years of performing blues, classic rock, country, folk, soul, and in recent times a Janis Joplin Tribute show.
Having played the rockers for so long, they sought a new outlet and found it in Hazard. They always found the melody and harmony of the modern country artists appealing and decided to try it for themselves.
Not so much the traditional ‘Stetsons & Stand By Your Man’ stuff but Jo Dee Messina, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Trisha Yearwood, Matraca Berg, Garth Brooks, Steve Earle, the Shel Silverstein composed Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show, Roseanne Cash, Nancii Griffith, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Grateful Dead and The Eagles to name but a few!
The new songs came together fairly easily and were recorded over the Christmas and New Year break 2009/10 and are what they like to think of as Power Country.
Country style subjects and structures, with a nod to tradition but avoiding clichés and delivered with the commitment of seasoned rockers. That’s Hazard. Please listen and enjoy!
