   More info

As a result of where he came from and where he is now, Raz bin Sam has a unique style and sound which ranges from gentle lullabies, playful and satirical tracks to the hardest, toughest high energy ragga. Always fuelled by concious lyrics, the originality of Raz Bin Sam stems from growing up in the gang ridden streets of Israel.

With years of music filled travels bringing him eventually to reside in Australia, Bin Sam is now playing original roots and culture music inspired by his diverse life. His first album “Kivsayat” was recorded in Hebrew in 1999. In 2002 Raz Bin Sam recorded the album “Domesila” in Byron Bay. His third album “Bin Tote Too” came in April of 2005.

Since then Bin Sam has been the front man of the 5 piece tough and hard hitting, original ragga/reggae band “Lion I”. Using a combination of roots, ragga and middle eastern rhythms, the sheer energy and unique, charismatic style of Raz Bin Sam and the Lion I band forces crowds to let loose in ways as original as the sounds they are hearing. With an emphasis on wicked intros, mixes, heavy bass lines and catchy guitar licks, their live shows leave a lasting impression on the mind, body and soul.

The band has a huge following amongst the reggae scene and the surfing community with their tracks being used in surf films and being dropped regularly on Bay fm, PBS (Melb) and Triple J. Raz Bin Sam and the Lion I band are quickly being recognised as guaranteed crowd pullers. They are billed at numerous festivals including Exodus and Splendour in the Grass, After touring Melbourne twice and playing with artists such as the international ragga/dancehall guru Tippa Irie in Byron Bay and Tommee & the Neighbourhood in Brisbane, the band is building a following up and down the east coast of Australia. Look out for the release of their latest album currently being recorded in Byron Bay, available July 2006! !
